Old Souls Sanctuary began with Daisy, a fourteen-year-old hound mix tied to a fence post and left behind, no note, no collar, nothing. When Walter and I found her that morning, she changed the course of our lives. In 2011, we founded Old Souls Sanctuary to give elderly and unwanted dogs a secure, comfortable home for life.
Walter was the heart of the sanctuary. His hands built every kennel here, and together we spent nine years taking in the dogs nobody else had room for. They lived in our home, shared our lives, and became our family.
In the spring of 2020, Walter passed away in his sleep, forty-two years into our marriage, surrounded by me and the dogs he loved. After losing him, I chose to continue our work alone.
Today, I carry forward the life we built together. Old Souls Sanctuary has cared for over 500 senior dogs, providing food, medical treatment, soft beds, and love during their final years.
We are an independent nonprofit supported entirely by public donations. I can continue the daily work, but I cannot carry the cost alone.
If you believe Walter's work deserves to live on, please consider making a donation. Your support will help me keep the home we built together open and ensure that the senior dogs who reach us are never abandoned again.
Please donate today and help me continue the promise Walter and I made together.
With sincere appreciation,
