You do not have to save every dog. You only have to make room for one.
Old Souls Dog Sanctuary cares for senior dogs who are sick, abandoned, or left without anywhere else to go. Many need more than shelter. They need a quiet home, a soft place to sleep, and someone patient enough to let them feel safe again.
Since her partner’s passing in 2020, Ruth has continued this work herself. A foster home gives one dog personal care while creating room for Ruth to help another.
What Fostering Means
As a foster, you provide a temporary home where a senior dog can rest and receive consistent daily care. Some may need medication, help moving around, frequent bathroom breaks, or simply time to adjust.
You do not need a perfect home or professional experience. You need patience, reliability, and a willingness to care for a dog who may have already lost everything familiar.
Senior dogs can be especially well suited to older adults who would like the comfort of a dog without committing to adoption. A quieter home, a steady routine, and someone nearby can offer an old dog security while bringing companionship into a foster’s everyday life. Fostering remains open to qualified adults of every age, and every placement is based on the needs of the dog and the foster’s ability to provide appropriate care.

Is Fostering Right for You?
Senior dogs are often quieter, but their needs vary. Before placing a dog, we consider your household, schedule, other animals, experience, and the level of care you can provide.
We want every placement to be safe and appropriate for both you and the dog.
Make Room for One More
For a senior dog with nowhere else to turn, your home could become the place where fear ends and comfort begins.
